Žemiau (pronounced “zhey-meow”) means below and, if you were to fly across Lithuania like a bird, you'd look down and see her. Not literally, but her alpaca wool color blocks could easily be the wheat fields, white sand dunes and sun bleached fields of our home country. Designed in collaboration with Lithuanian designer Eglė Žiemytė, she's made from socially farmed Peruvian wool with no chemical dyes in sight. Naturally hypoallergenic and free of oil and lanolin, her super long sleeves are designed for cold days.

    We don't believe in deadstock. This knit is produced in small batches at our our family-owned partner factory in Šiauliai, overseen by Daiva. We use limited edition thread from Peru, which has Peru Fair Trade Certification, with no microplastics and no harmful or irritant chemicals used. The best part? You'll get a card with your order telling you exactly who knitted your garment and a little about them.

Made at Daiva's

For this knit we partnered up with a family-owned knitwear factory in Šiauliai, a small town in Northern Lithuania. The factory is run by Daiva who opened the factory 25 years ago with her husband Redas. Today, Daiva employs around 20 women from the local community, including her daughters, Gabija and Armina, and says the factory is like her third child. Each sweater piece is individually factory-knitted at Daiva's and then sewn together by hand. This zero-waste approach is pretty cool because it ensures no leftover scraps - we literally knit the shapes that'll be sewn together.
